For over a decade, award winning singer, songwriter, recording and performing artist Mercy Chinwo has been setting the world on fire for God
with her musical talent. Her hit single ‘Excess Love’ released in 2018 earned her a top spot not just in the Nigerian Gospel music industry but also on the international scene.
Born on September 5, 1991, Mercy Chinwo is an indigene of Rivers State, Nigeria. She’s an alumna of the International Business Management Institute (IBMI) where she bagged a degree in Human Resource Management and related courses.
Mercy Chinwo began her music journey at an early age as a part of the children’s choir in her church. She subsequently moved on to the adult church choir where she eventually became the music director. She has participated in several music competitions, winning quite a number of them.
In 2018, she released her debut studio album ‘The Cross: My Gaze’ with the 16 track project featuring notable gospel artists such as Chris Morgan. Her second studio album ‘Satisfied’ released in 2020 was widely received as one of the most anticipated albums of that year. Songs such as Obinasom, Akamdinelu and Na You Dey Reign recorded significant applause from audiences across the globe.
The success of her albums has led to numerous awards and recognitions.

Since breaking into the gospel scene, Mercy Chinwo has been featured on a number of gospel music projects, working with the likes of JJ Hairson, Nathaniel Bassey, Chioma Jesus, Banky W, Joe Praize, Samsong, Moses Bliss and a host of others.
Asides music, Mercy Chinwo always gives expression to her other passions. They include: acting, a successful involvement in business with the launch of her beret and merch company mecempire; and most importantly humanitarian work. In 2023, she alongside her husband began the MercyisBlessed Foundation, an NGO with the aim of empowering lives, one soul at a time. Their work focuses on donations to the less privileged as well as youth development amongst others.
On a personal note, Mercy is happily married to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa and they both reside in Lagos.
